A meeting with Barack Obama at the White House led to one of the three missed drugs tests that resulted in Olympic champion Brianna Rollins receiving a 12-month ban.
Rollins won gold in the 100-metre hurdles at Rio 2016 but has been suspended for failing to properly file "whereabouts information" with the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) three times across the year.
One of those came on September 27, when the 25-year-old travelled to Washington D.C. to meet then-US president Obama at the White House.
Rollins missed another test as a result of her attendance at a parade in her home town in Florida to celebrate "Brianna Rollins Day".
Neither of these whereabouts failures were contested by the American.
In a statement posted on her official Instagram account, Rollins said: "Unfortunately I will not compete in the 2017 season, due to three missed tests with USADA.
"I was tested at least 16 times in 2016, but on these three times, and all for different reasons, I was not at my residence when USADA came to test me. I've always competed clean, and I am always happy to be tested to prove it.
"This is one of the most difficult times in my career, especially after having such a great 2016 season - all I wanted to do was capitalise on that but God has other plans. I'm not sure what they may be, but I am sure there is a purpose.
"As much as this hurts, I am sure that I will be stronger and better from it. I will continue to work to improve myself and get ready for next year. I won't be defeated. Still blessed!"
Rollins successfully submitted to eight in-competition and as many out-of-competition tests across 2016.
Her ban began on December 19 last year, the date she was notified of a potential rule violation.
