Bills release Richie Incognito from reserve/retired list

22 May 2018 01:45

Richie Incognito got his wish and is moving on from the Buffalo Bills, the NFL franchise announced on Monday.

The Bills released the four-time Pro Bowler and offensive guard from the Reserve/Retired list.

Incognito has been rumoured to be nearing retirement in recent weeks after playing 12 seasons in the NFL with the Los Angeles Rams, Bills and Miami Dolphins.

The 34-year-old announced in April he was retiring because he was too stressed, saying his "liver and kidneys are shutting down" as a result, but changed his mind a week later before asking the Bills to release him from his contract.

Incognito admitted he was unhappy when the Bills restructured his deal, but said that issue was separate from his decision to call it a career.

He started all 16 games for Buffalo in 2017. It remains to be seen if he will return to play in 2018.
